Mother of the Year

February 18th, 2008

One of the things we took away from Grandma Pat’s house was a pair of little kid’s plastic chairs, like lawn furniture only in teensy weensy sizes. They are very cute and Bridget loves them, especially as she has now sort of picked up on how to sit herself in a chair. She can’t back into one, but she can get in facing the back and then turn around.

My mommy heart swelled with pride in my little girl as she learned a new and useful skill. Then she decided on one trip up into the chair that she wasn’t going to turn around. The wee plastic chair decided that it was no longer able to defy the laws of gravity and tipped backward, dropping my precious angel and bonking her head into the handle of the bookshelf cabinet. Now my girl has a bit of a shiner and I feel like the poster child for what not to do with your toddler.

Please don’t call CPS on me, okay?

UH, you are talking about Bridget right? How could she NOT find a way to endanger herself w/ a plastic chair, or a kleenex or a sock or any other thing? That little daredevil sweetie!

    Doh! Poor Bridgie…(and poor Mama!)

I swear it is so freaking hard to let them find their limits at this age. They have turned into little monkeys all of a sudden but in a blink of an eye they royally screw themselves by falling! So glad a shiner is all she got.
BTW, I made the mac and cheese with sharp cheddar and real parmasean and I would kiss you on the mouth if I lived in the same state. WINNERRRRRRRRR !!!!!! We gorged ourselves so much on it V-day night it was like two drunk polar bears mounting each other for our “love fest” that night. Not our finest hour…but man was it worth it. Thanks for the recipe!

I’d love to see her figuring out new tricks! I miss that little one…. may have to sneak up for a visit in the not so distant future.
