I like SK, too, but mostly the older stuff. I think I'd pick The Stand as my fave. Though I really liked Cujo and The Shining. I haven't read Lisey yet (but have it) and don't have Cell. I did read his latest Duma Key and LOVED it. It was like his old stuff again. Try it.

PS - I could live at Half Price Books. Unfortunately we don't have one here.

Oh I'm a huge Stephen King fan. IT terrifies me STILL. I cannot for the life of me step over a damn sewer grate without a shiver! I love his story-telling...I don't care for the out & out horror as much as the long & winding tales. I think THE STAND is my favorite.

I LOVED "Cell". Definitely one of his best, and I am a connoiseur (or however you spell that) of SK. When I read that, I was still bringing Freya to work with me, and I'd take her downstairs to the Warehouse a couple of times a day to walk her around in the sling until she'd fall asleep. I would cast my eye over the stacks and stacks of firefighting stuff, and be doing a mental packing list of what to come grab if ever something like "Cell" should occur. It still gives me a shiver.

You didn't post anything about "Lisey's Story." What did you think? Personally, I loathed it. Thought it was completely awful, and a near re-hash of "Rose Madder." (Which wasn't very good either, but was somewhat better than "LS".)

Also? You're a nut if you don't like the Dark Tower series. :-P

I also love Stephen King books (as well as other in that same sort of genre, like Dean Koontz) and I have never been so scared in my life after reading many of his books! I'm partial to Pet Cemetery but my husband loves "It" as well! I have Harry Potter on my to-read pile now going on over two years! This summer, I am determined to get into them! My ten-year old just finished the first one and is anxious to read the rest...

If it's the Sweet Potatoe Queens' First Big Ass Novel? Then yes, it's what the doctor ordered. I loved that book! I may have to go check out Cell, but probably should wait for a few months when I'm hopefully less sleep deprived and therefore less likely to let the book really get to me. It's been a long time since I've read any Stephen King Books.
