Compromise: get a tumbling mat and put it next to the crib. If she gets out she'll land on something soft and safe.

XBoy was around 2 1/2 the first time he escaped from his crib and at the time, we had just found out we were expecting so we went ahead and moved him out of the crib. Looking back, I wished we had waited as I think his escape was a fluke. We had to put the baby gate in the door because he just wouldn't stay in his bed. If you decide to move her to a bed or to take the crib rail off, you may find yourself doing the same.
