Charlotte is 27 months and still in a crib and though she could climb out, she doesn't. We installed a gate at the top of the stairs in case she does. The next thing on my list is to get Mike to tether everything to the wall. I've heard too many horror stories of kids climbing up dressers and it falling on them. I think it all depends on the kid. It seems to work great for some people. It's ugly though. We had one for a bit to keep the cats out of the crib. It worked well for that too.
